Everyday at Lu Tennis Academy is a new challenge that we face together with sweat and laughter. Attending this academy for the last 7 years has been a wholesome experience that I would fully recommend to any players seeking a higher level of training.

Lu has been my coach for about 9 years and there’s a reason for that, he truly is the best coach I’ve ever been with. The best quality about him is the connection he builds with his players. He pours out all of his knowledge and experience into his students because he wants them to succeed in the future. He is one of the best technical coaches, but most of all, he is an amazing person and builds a fun and intense training environment for everyone to work in.

Coach Lu is the complete coach. He believes in discipline and pushes players past their limits both physically and mentally. There is a level of strictness on court with him but that quickly fades into amusement and support off the court. I’ve been training under Lu and the clinic for the majority of my tennis career and have made a significant impact on my game as well as lasting memories. The coaches at the clinic all form bonds with the players and I can truly say that they are also my friends.

My tennis game improved significantly after working with Coach Lu. He teaches the game holistically. The aspects of footwork, strokes, placements, and mental toughness are key to his training methodology. Not only does Coach Lu work on the technicality of tennis, he pushes a player to visualize his/her potential and strive to reach far and beyond, no matter the circumstance/challenges. Coach Lu is more than an amazing coach to me, he is a mentor, and more importantly a great friend.

Being Lu’s student is one of the best things that could have happened to me, both as a tennis player and as a person. Whether in private lessons or in group clinics, it’s amazing to see how much Lu cares about each player as an individual. Aside from fostering an environment of hard work to help each player reach for the stars, Lu develops this fun, personal connection with all of us that I really don’t think anyone else can replicate.
The fact that he cares so much about us as people, not just as tennis players, speaks volumes about his fantastic mentality as a coach. This combination of hard work, improvement, laughter, and fun when working with Lu is one of the things that makes me love this sport.
